The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos has launched a career initiative aimed at empowering Delta youths and redirecting them from illegal activities to productive ventures.

The programme, which included medical and educational outreach initiatives, was held in Madangho Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, emphasized that the initiative is a gesture of appreciation to the host communities and aligns with the strategic directives of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

The programme is also part of Operation Delta Sanity II’s operational objectives.

The career talk, conducted in collaboration with Kedahan Services Limited Training School, exposed young people to various career and business opportunities.

Engr. Rosemary Imhnanwa, Project Manager at Kedahan Services Limited Training School, praised the Navy’s initiative, stating that it would encourage self-reliance among locals rather than dependence on the government.

Community leader Mr Solomon Uwawa of Madangho thanked the Navy and expressed hope that the career talk would positively influence the youths.

Residents from Arunton, Ajudaigbo, and Ogidigben communities also participated in the programme.

The medical outreach included distribution of treated mosquito nets, eyeglasses, health education, medical consultations, and free medication.

The educational support programme provided school bags, mathematical sets, and other writing materials to pupils.
