Nigerian Army Marks 161 Years with Community Outreach, School Donations in Edo

The 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Benin, Edo State, has marked its 161st anniversary with a series of humanitarian initiatives, including a medical outreach programme and the donation of educational materials to schools in the region.

The medical outreach, conducted on Friday, provided essential healthcare services to communities in Ehor and neighbouring areas in Uhunmwonde Local Government.

This initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of the local population and demonstrate the Army’s commitment to the well-being of Nigerians.

In addition to the medical outreach, the Brigade donated writing materials to several public and private primary schools in Benin City and Ehor Township.

These donations are part of the Army’s efforts to support education and foster positive relationships within the communities they serve.

Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo, Commander of the 4 Brigade, stated that the activities are designed to showcase the Army’s humanitarian side and its dedication to the welfare of Nigerians.

He pointed out that the Army has been instrumental in maintaining peace and unity in the country for the past 161 years.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the brigade also plans to honour fallen heroes who have served the nation.

The Army Regiment stationed at Ehor has played a crucial role in curbing criminal activities in the area, and the recent initiatives are intended to further strengthen community relations and encourage intelligence sharing.

The Chairman of Uhunmwonde Local Government, Mr. Kenneth Adodo, praised the 4 Brigade for their generosity and unwavering commitment to improving security in the region. He noted that the security situation has significantly improved since the deployment of the brigade’s operatives to the community.
