Nigerian Army Applicant Killed by Colleague Over ATM Card

By Lami Victor KADUNA

A Nigerian Army Depot applicant was gruesomely murdered by colleagues.

The incident, which occurred in Zaria, Kaduna State, has left the community in shock as the applicant who was vying for a spot in the Nigerian Army Depot was allegedly hacked to death by fellow applicants.

The victim, who hailed from Gombe State, reportedly received nearly N1 million from his parents to facilitate his recruitment.

On Sunday, it was learned that suspicions arose when the deceased shared his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and password with a friend to withdraw N10,000 for food.

However, it is now suspected that the friend and other accomplices orchestrated the murder, withdrawing N800,000 from the victim’s account.

The lifeless body was discovered on Saturday morning in the PZ area of Sabon-Gari Local Government, bearing visible knife wounds.

The incident has been reported to the authorities, and the body has been deposited at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army and police have not yet commented on the incident
