In a bold move to revolutionize Nigeria’s visa processing, the Federal Government has announced that all visa applications will transition to a fully online system by March 1, 2025.
This development is expected to centralize and streamline the country’s visa processes, eliminating loopholes that foster fraud and inefficiency.
According to Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the new online system will enhance uniformity, curb corruption, and bolster national security.
“This initiative is a game-changer,” he remarked during a live session on ‘X Spaces’ hosted by influencer Dr. Segun Awosanya.
The minister also unveiled a centralized visa approval center, which will play a crucial role in the new online system.
Additionally, the government has established an 8.3-petabyte data center at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex, further demonstrating its commitment to digital transformation.
This development is expected to make visa applications more convenient and transparent for applicants, while also improving the overall efficiency of Nigeria’s immigration processes.
