A South-South socio-political organisation, the Coalition of Niger Deltans for Equity and Justice, has pledged its unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), vowing to mobilise massive votes for his re-election in 2027.
The group also threw its weight behind former Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and his security firm, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), for their contributions to tackling oil theft and boosting national revenue.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Meshach Bebenimibo, and made available to journalists in Warri on Monday, the coalition expressed satisfaction with the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta.
The group highlighted several initiatives demonstrating the President’s dedication to the region, including his recent assent to the Act establishing the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, and his administration’s strong stance against oil theft.
“We declare our unwavering support for the President Tinubu-led administration,” the statement read. “Come 2027, we will vote massively for the APC-led government under Tinubu, who has shown he means well for Nigeria.”
The coalition also took a firm stance against critics of Tompolo and Tantita Security Services, describing them as “parasites” benefiting from illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.
“They are suffocating because Tantita has put an end to their illegal activities,” the group stated. “Their attacks on Tompolo and TSSNL are simply an attempt to undermine the security outfit’s remarkable achievements in stabilising and increasing oil production.”
According to the coalition, Tantita’s operations have driven out oil thieves and significantly boosted oil production, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
“We will continue to defend Tantita, given its remarkable contributions to the region’s economic progress. We will not sit back and watch unscrupulous elements tarnish the reputation of Tompolo and his firm, which has done so much for our region,” the statement added.
The group praised Tantita Security Services for its role in securing oil infrastructure, creating thousands of jobs for unemployed youths, and supporting host communities and security agencies.
“Tantita has empowered many youths, women, and the elderly in the Niger Delta,” the statement noted. “We urge all well-meaning Nigerians to support Tompolo and Tantita in the fight against oil bunkering and ensure increased oil production, which will enhance national revenue and infrastructure development.”
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government and stakeholders to ensure continued economic progress in the Niger Delta, stressing the importance of securing oil assets to drive national development.
