NEMA confirms 168 persons displaced by Ibadan building collapse

No fewer than 168 persons have been confirmed displaced due to the building collapse at Sango police barracks in Ibadan.

It also said that 28 flats were affected as a result of the incident.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday.

It read, “Over 168 persons displaced. The operation was successful evacuation activities is still ongoing. No casualty was recorded at the scene, 2 storey building collapsed with a total of 28 flats was affected.

“The NEMA South West Zonal Office received a distress alert at about 6.00pm on Saturday 22nd April, 2023 of a collapsed building at Nigeria Police Barrack block 11, Sango, Ibadan.

“The Zonal Coordinator Swiftly activated the Federal and State Fire Service and other response Agencies to the scene of incident. The ZC coordinated the rescue operation and the evacuation of the building and the surrounding buildings”.
