Ndi-Ngbo Women Demand Greater Representation in Delta Politics

By Chuks Peter, DELTA

The Ndi-Ngbo Women in Politics have voiced their dissatisfaction with the limited representation they currently have in Delta State politics, calling for more appointments to reflect their significant contributions.

The group emphasised the importance of having more women in decision-making positions to ensure their voices are heard and their interests represented.

Led by Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Evidence Okojie, the Ndi-Ngbo women have been a notable force in Delta State’s political landscape.

They highlighted their dedication and active participation since the movement’s inception, which has garnered recognition.

Recently, the group’s president received an appointment from the state government, sparking hopes for a more inclusive political environment.

“We are not content with just a single appointment. We demand greater representation and more appointments,” the women stated.

“Our significant contributions to Delta State politics necessitate our inclusion in decision-making positions to ensure our voices are heard and our interests represented.”

During a courtesy call, Senator Emmanuel Edesiri Aguariavwodo praised the Ndi-Ngbo women’s efforts, commending their organisation and dedication to mobilising women to vote and work for the PDP.

He acknowledged the challenges faced in the last elections, where sentiment and misinformation led to incorrect voting.

The senator stressed the importance of wise voting and supporting the PDP government to prevent political instability.

“The women’s demand for inclusive appointments highlights their commitment to Delta State’s development,” Senator Aguariavwodo said.

“They understand the value of diverse perspectives and representation in governance.”

Senator Aguariavwodo, who also serves as a Senior Special Assistant to the governor, emphasised the need to organise the women to vote correctly and encouraged support for their efforts.

He believes that by working together, Delta State can achieve a more inclusive political environment and ensure that women’s voices are heard.

The courtesy meeting was attended by notable figures, including Mrs. Stella Osasa, Mrs. Joy Eguenu, and several other members of Ndi-Ngbo Women in Politics.
