The leadership of the Neo Black Movement of Africa (NBM), a Pan-African group, has firmly distanced itself from any celebration on July 7, which has been falsely claimed in some circles to be the group’s founding day anniversary.

In a statement released by its National Public Relations Officer, Ajibo Sam-Brown, on Monday, July 1, 2024, the NBM clarified that it has no such celebration or anniversary on July 7 (7/7).

The group noted that those spreading this misinformation are not members of the NBM but imposters and charlatans.

According to the statement, the claim that July 7th is the founding date of the NBM of Africa is entirely false and not recognised by the Pan-Africanist group.

The NBM of Africa, an organisation with documented activities, promotes peace and condemns any form of illegality.

“There is no record in the history of the NBM of Africa that designates July 7 as founders day,” the statement reads.

“It is erroneous for any group to associate this date with the NBM of Africa. Furthermore, the NBM of Africa has no affiliation with the group known as Black Axe.

“The NBM of Africa disassociates itself from the name ‘Black Axe’.”

The organisation warned all its members worldwide to be cautious of such gatherings, which may falsely claim to be related to the NBM of Africa, and to report them to the authorities.

“By this notice, all members of the organisation are strongly warned to steer clear of any such gatherings and to report them to the nearest police station,” the statement concluded.
