Navy Promote 22 Officers in Northeast Amid Insurgency

The fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast has received a significant boost with the promotion of 22 military officers. The officers, who were promoted to the ranks of Brigadier General, Navy Commodore, and Colonel, were honoured for their outstanding performance in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region.

Theatre Commander, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Wahidi Shuabu, charged the newly promoted officers to tackle the insurgency and other security challenges in the country. He emphasized that the security challenges facing the nation were multifaceted and required the collective effort of all stakeholders to bring them under control.

Maj.-Gen. Shuabu advised the officers to support their commands, build their resumes, and make a name for themselves as staff officers. He also emphasized the correlation between job performance and promotion, urging the officers to continue to work hard and contribute to the success of the military.

The promotion ceremony was attended by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Barr. Mustapha Busugurma. The governor congratulated the newly promoted officers and assured the military of the state government’s continued support in the fight against insurgency.

Brig.-Gen. Alamin Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the promoted officers, thanked President Bola Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and Maj.-Gen. Wahidi Shuabu for the elevation. He promised that the officers would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the success of the military’s operations in the Northeast.

The promotion of the 22 officers is expected to bring fresh hands and new ideas to the fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast. The military is hopeful that the new officers will help to boost the morale of the troops and enhance the overall effectiveness of the counter-insurgency operations in the region. With the ongoing efforts to tackle the insurgency, the military is optimistic that the region will soon be rid of the terrorist group and peace will be restored.
