DELTA: Millions of Nigerians were plunged into darkness on Wednesday following yet another collapse of the national electricity grid.
The system failure, which occurred before noon, was confirmed by various power distribution companies and the official grid monitoring handle on X, @NationalGridNg.
“There was a ‘GRID DISTURBANCE’ before noon today. Parts of the country experienced an outage. Further information shortly,” the post read.
Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, in a statement on X, reported that the outage occurred at exactly 11:34 am, affecting all its feeders.
“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders,” the company assured its customers.
Similarly, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the development, saying it was working closely with relevant authorities to restore power.
“Dear valued customer, we regret to inform you that a system disturbance occurred on the national grid at 11:34 am today, causing a power outage across our franchise areas,” AEDC stated.
The latest collapse is the first in 2025, following a similar incident in January. Nigeria’s power sector continues to struggle with frequent grid failures, leaving businesses and households frustrated.
While power distribution companies have begun gradual restoration, many Nigerians are calling for lasting solutions to the nation’s electricity crisis.
