President Bola Tinubu has concluded a high-level security meeting with service chiefs, intelligence heads, and the Inspector-General of Police at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting, which began around 3 p.m., was also attended by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
While the discussions were ongoing, leaders of the National Assembly, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, were seen arriving at the forecourt of the State House.
It remains unclear whether they participated in the meeting.
Although the specific agenda of the meeting was not immediately disclosed, it is believed to be related to recent security concerns across the country.
One major issue is the overnight explosion at an oil facility in Rivers State, which occurred on the Trans Niger Pipeline near Bodo community in Gokana Local Government Area.
The incident follows threats from an unidentified group vowing to attack oil facilities in response to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Among the security chiefs in attendance were Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar.
