National Grid Collapses Again, Power Generation Drops to Zero

The national electricity grid suffered another collapse on Monday, leading to widespread blackouts in several regions.

An official from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), who pleaded anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the press, confirmed that the collapse was partial.

The official also noted that efforts are underway to gradually restore power.

As of 1:33 p.m. on Monday, the total power generation on the grid plummeted to zero megawatts.

This incident marks the fifth time this year that the national grid has failed.

The repeated failures highlight ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s power sector despite the huge amounts dedicated to the sector by different administrations.
