A police constable, Dogara Akolo-Moses, at the Mada Station Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command has taken his own life on Tuesday.

The officer was seen performing his duties in the Nasarawa Eggon local government area, where the division is located, before the shocking incident.

According to eyewitnesses, Akolo-Moses entered a private room and shot himself, with the sound of the gunshot prompting his colleagues to rush to the scene.

Unfortunately, they found the officer lying in a pool of blood, with his gun beside him.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of Akolo-Moses’ actions. “Colleagues of the deceased who were outside the apartment heard the gunshot, prompting them to rush inside, where they found the officer lying on the floor with his gun beside him,” Nansel said.

The incident has left the police community in shock, with many questioning what could have driven Akolo-Moses to take such drastic action.

The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding Akolo-Moses’ death.
