The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout in a forested area bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kogi State, rescuing 14 abducted individuals and apprehending five suspects believed to be aiding the criminals.
In a statement on Tuesday, DSP Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson for the Nasarawa Police Command, revealed that the operation was carried out by officers from the Toto Division with the assistance of local community youths. According to Nansel, the arrested suspects admitted to providing supplies to the kidnappers, revealing an established support network enabling criminal activities in the region.
“Police operatives attached to Toto Division in collaboration with community youths on 4/11/2024 burst a kidnappers’ hideout at Achido village, a heavily forested area bordering the FCT and Kogi State, where they rescued fourteen (14) kidnapped victims,” the statement read. Those rescued include residents of Abuja and Niger State, such as Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed, and Auwal Adamu from Kuje, FCT, as well as several men from Lapai, Niger State.
Five suspects connected to the crime, identified as Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Kasim, Mustapha Adamu, and Abdul Mohammed, have confessed to supplying food to the kidnappers hiding in the forest.
