NAPS urges Osun Govt. to reopen States Cooperative

Leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students has appealed to the Osun State Government to reopen the States Corporate College in order to avail students the opportunity to secure admissions while serving the purpose the institutions was established for.

In a Statement signed the NAPS National President Comrade Benedict Olalere, and made available to CAMPUS FOCUS on Friday 10th April, 2020, the citadel of learning has prospects to transforming the lifestyle of many if allowed to continue operations.

The statement reads “In other to fulfill our Premises during NAPS Consolidation Era Campaign to Nigerian Polytechnic, Monotechnic and Every other Allied Institution Awarding OND and HND in OSUN State and Nigeria, during the campaign some students and Stakeholders in OSUN State called our attention to the closure of a Monotechnic in OSUN State, OSUN State Cooperative College.

“After our Convention/Election in Edo, we send a letter to the State Government of State of OSUN , pointed out some reason the School need to be evaluate and be reopen, our letter was responded to and directed us to meet the Deputy Governor of the State of OSUN , H.E. Benedict Olugboyega Alabi , the meeting was scheduled for 17th March 2020, two days before our Official Inauguration.

“NAPS Consolidation Era Finally had a Comprehensive meeting with the Good Polytechnic Product, the Deputy Governor of the State of OSUN , Mr .Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, who gave us ample opportunity to clear some misconceptions about Cooperative College, NAPS President was able to make it clear that Cooperative College is not a college that run a singular course called Booking Keeping, the College was designed to train and equip Cooperative Officers, to have adequate knowledge from different courses but specialized in Cooperative Education, in the Global World Cooperative can’t be rule out in promotion of Entrepreneurship, Economy Development and Creating Enabling environment for soft loan, its very necessary that each state develop the Human capacity in different specialized area, ranging from Medicine, etc, there is need for Cooperative Expert.

“This gave Birth to Cooperative College across the Nation, whereby we have Federal Cooperative College in Nigeria and the first Cooperative Monotechnic in Africa, which is the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, during the NAPS President speech, Comrade Olalere Benedict made it clear that OSUN State Cooperative College has produced good Students Leaders and Good Product From OSUN State, among many others ,is the Formal SUG President of the OSUN State Cooperative college, Odemu, who also the Formal SUG President of Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, Comrade Eluyemi Taofeek aka Atay, is From IFE, who has portrait himself with the Culture of Omoluabi that OSUN state is known for, such College who has produced such a great Leaders and Entrepreneur should not be closed down, there are lot of destiny that is attached to the College, Cooperative college run more than Book Keeping, courses vary from: Cooperative Economics and Management, Home and Rural Economics, Banking Finance, Computer Science, Diploma in Cooperative Studies etc.

“NAPS Submitted a Position Paper on how the College can secure an Affiliation and Funding for the running of the College in the Global Community.

“In the Response of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict, appreciate the patriotic move of the NAPS Consolidation Era, to dialogue and Provide Solution to the closure of the College, he also pointed to some Educational Policy of State of OSUN and the yearning of the State Government under the able Leadership of His Excellency, Gboyega Oyetola,to give adequate Educational Support to the Citizens of the State of OSUN, the Deputy Governor promised to deliver the NAPS Position Paper to the Governor as soon as the Governor is around.

“NAPS Consolidation Era is committed to secure a better platform for all Polytechnic Students across the Country, we are Committed.” The statement added.
