NANS applauds KWSG as Gov. Abdulrazaq clocks One Year in Office

The National Association of Nigerian Students/Joint Campus Committee (NANS/JCC), Kwara State Chapter, has applauded the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for his efforts across Tertiary Institution in the State.

This is coming just as Governor Abdulrazaq clocked one year in office as the Governor of Kwara State, having been elected at the 2019 governorship election held on March 9, 2019 and sworn in on May 29, 2019.

NANS Senators during its first Online Senate Sitting held on WhatsApp platform on Friday, May 22, 2020, reviewed the Governors performance and submitted that, he deserved to be celebrated.

NANS also passed a vote of confidence on the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibo Kawu, for her commitment and hardwork.

The Kwara NANS Chairman, Comrade Salami Wasiu Onidugbé who chaired the sitting, wrote: “Extracting from the Senators points of view, the Governor has done too well to virtually all our campuses since the inception of his administration and we are still expecting him to continue to extend the hand of his good governance to our campuses.

“In light of the above, the Governor has to be celebrated by the students.” he said.

Responding, the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibo Kawu, reiterated the State Governor’s commitment towards ensuring quality education is achieved in the state through provisions of adequate funding.

She wrote: “I am delighted to inform you all that for the first time, we have an administration that has impacted each of the state-owned tertiary institutions.

“From Kwara Polytechnic to Kwasu that hadn’t received anything since 2015 to the international aviation college that laid off 80% of its staff from Aug.2018 -June 2019 to Oke-Ode that HE released some money for a few weeks ago for leaking roofs repair.

“Please liaise more with your school heads, and my office. It’s your right to know.” she said.

“I read a few of the leaders saying that nothing has been done. Cails got an imtervention for accreditation and also gets monthly subvention(which wasn’t forthcoming in the last administration). It has been consistent and promptly!”

“I would get you all a list of the govt. interventions in your various institutions in commemoration of the 1st year administration.

“You can expect us to continue to do more, we would do more with your support.
Thank you all.
“Keep being you, and all the best!.” She added.

While responding to inquiry on electricity issues at the Kwara State College of Nursing, Oke Ode, the Commissioner assured the Students that Government will look into the issue.

She wrote: “I have been on Oke-Ode electricity issue. I still spoke with my colleague in Energy about it. We will do something God willing. “Thank you for your patience.” She added.

The sitting which was chaired by the Kwara NANS Chairman, Comrade Salami Wasiu Onidugbé had in attendance Student Union Presidents and representatives of all Tertiary Institutions in the State, which includes: University of Ilorin, Kwara State University Malete, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State Polytechnic, College of Education Oro, College of Education Ilorin, College of Education Technical Lafiaji, School of Nursing Okeode, School of Nursing Ilorin, Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies and Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa.

Also in attendant alongside the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibo Kawu, are: the SA Media to the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Sheriff Gold, S A New Media to the Kwara State Governor, Olayinka Solace, O.C Students, Department of State Security Service, Mr. Kabiru, as well as Represenatative of the Nigerian Police Force, and some former student leaders.
