In an effort to reduce instances of fraud during government interventions, the Nigeria Agro Input Dealers Association (NAIDA) established its Compliance Monitoring Team to oversee the distribution and sales of agricultural inputs nationwide.

The team was officially launched on Thursday in Abuja by NAIDA President Alhaji Kabir Umar Fara, who stated that the action was required to address instances of fraud and malpractice that damage the reputation of agro-dealers throughout the nation.

He said, “The inauguration of this monitoring team across the country will no doubt reduce if not stop the atrocities being perpetrated by unscrupulous dealers within our association, and we promise to self-regulate ourselves so that the burden of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is the recognized government regulator, is reduced considerably,”

Kabir however, urges cooperation with pertinent stakeholders to alleviate the shortage of urea in Nigerian markets.
