The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing an Executive Order aimed at transforming Nigeria’s healthcare sector. The order, she said, will boost local production of healthcare products, reduce costs, and promote investments, marking a significant step forward for the country’s healthcare system.
Adeyeye praised the order for addressing key issues in the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII). She noted that despite previous efforts, local manufacturers faced challenges due to unbridled importation of pharmaceutical products, putting the country at an economic disadvantage and undermining citizens’ health security.
The order, she said, will reduce tariffs, create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and ensure a reliable supply of essential healthcare products. It will also drive innovation, improve quality, and strengthen the nation’s health systems.
Adeyeye hailed the President’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s health sector, saying the order sets the stage for a sustainable and high-quality healthcare system for all Nigerians.
