NAF Airstrikes Kill Terrorists in Kebbi Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the killing of several terrorists in Kebbi and Zamfara states during separate air operations carried out on Sunday.

The operations also led to the destruction of key strongholds used by notorious bandit warlords.

In a statement, NAF spokesperson Olusola Akinboyewa revealed that the hideout of infamous terrorist kingpin, Ado Aleiro, was among the targets of the airstrikes, with numerous of Aleiro’s fighters neutralized in the process.

Akinboyewa said, “The first wave of airstrikes was launched based on confirmed intelligence about increased terrorist activities in these areas. On November 8, 2024, NAF forces executed a surprise aerial assault on multiple camps, including the strategic Sangeko location in Zamfara, near the Kebbi border, and the heavily fortified enclave of Ado Aleiro around Asola Hill in Tsafe Local Government Area.”

He explained that the strikes not only obliterated a major arms depot belonging to the notorious bandit leader, Ado Aleiro, but also dealt a severe blow to his operations. “The precision strikes have decimated their capabilities and sent a clear message to these criminal groups,” Akinboyewa added.

The airstrikes also had a significant humanitarian impact, as several individuals previously kidnapped by the bandits managed to escape during the chaos caused by the bombardment.

“Following the strikes, several kidnapped victims, held captive by the bandits, successfully escaped and made their way to safety in Kebbi State. Some of the survivors shared stories of their escape, detailing the daring efforts they took to break free from their captors,” Akinboyewa said.

He further emphasised that the successful operation had not only instilled fear in the hearts of the bandits but also brought hope to residents who have long been terrorized by criminal gangs. “The ongoing air campaign underlines the increasing efficiency and resolve of the NAF in fighting terrorism and banditry. The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully committed to restoring peace and security across the nation.”he stated.

The NAF has assured that updates on the progress of Operation Farautar Mujiya will be shared in the coming days as the military continues its efforts to degrade the capabilities of terrorist and bandit groups in the region.
