Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery has commenced fuel distribution, with local petroleum marketers lifting 518,500 metric tons of automotive gas oil (AGO) and jet A1 in five months.

“We are committed to meeting Nigeria’s energy needs and ensuring the availability of petroleum products across the country,” said Olufemi Adewole, Executive Secretary, Depot and Petroleum Products Companies Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN).

Marketers such as Asharami, MRS Oil and Gas, AA Rano, Rainoil, Prudent NIPCO, Aym Shafa, and Danmarna have lifted petrol from the refinery.

“This development demonstrates our unwavering dedication to guaranteeing smooth access to petroleum products nationwide,” said a representative of one of the marketers.

According to documents from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the lifted products include 489,500 MT of AGO and 29,000 MT of Jet A1.

“DAPPMAN believes firmly in meeting Nigeria’s energy needs and remains aligned to calls for the nation not to end up in a monopoly,” Adewole added.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has also started lifting PMS from Dangote Refinery, with at least 300 trucks stationed at the Lekki, Lagos refinery.

“This is a significant milestone in our efforts to ensure energy security and independence,” said Devakuma Edwin, Vice President, Oil and Gas, Dangote Refinery.

The refinery’s fuel prices have been a subject of discussion, with the company announcing a price of N600/litre, sparking concerns among Nigerians.

“We will continue to work towards providing affordable and quality fuel options for Nigerians,” Edwin assured.
