More Troubles As Another APC Faction Suspends Ganduje

By Chukwuma Okoro

The turmoil within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has taken a dramatic turn with the emergence of new executives from Ganduje’s ward, who have issued a fresh suspension on the acting National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

This latest suspension comes on the heels of Ganduje’s earlier suspension by another faction of the party executives in his ward led by Haladu Gwanjo.

Gwanjo cited alleged corruption and other offenses as grounds for their decision, which was backed by nine executive members of the party in Ganduje ward.

However, a counter-faction represented by Ahmad Ganduje has voiced support for the national chairman, asserting that the ward officials are satisfied with his leadership.

Adding to the complexity, the group led by the ward secretary, Jaafar Adamu, revealed to journalists that 11 out of the twenty-seven executive members of Ganduje ward are the legitimate ward executives, elected in a legal process on July 31, 2021.

Jaafar, who is also Ganduje’s nephew, stated that they are the authentic executives and have passed a vote of no confidence, imposing a new suspension on Dr. Umar Ganduje for various reasons.

Among the reasons cited for the suspension are Dr. Ganduje’s alleged creation of internal conflicts within the party at the ward level and his involvement in anti-party activities during the 2023 elections, which they believe contributed to the party’s failure in the state.

Jaafar emphasized that the factions claiming to be executives were imposters orchestrated by Ganduje and other undesirable elements within the party, as reported by the media.

As of now, the State Executive Council has not issued any response to these developments, leaving the party’s future in Kano State uncertain.

Abdullahi Ganduje has been battling for his political life in Kano State since he fell apart with his erstwhile boss, Rabiu Kwankwaso in 2022.

To add to his headache, his party, APC where he supervises as the National Chairman lost his State, Kano to the NNPP, the Party of his former boss turned antagonist, in the last general election.

Kano State is always a swing State in Nigeria’s highly competitive election and its control always confers national political value.
