The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Okeke Johnchris, for allegedly using his vehicle to fatally hit another man, William Wisdom, during an argument at Falomo Square, Ikoyi.
The incident, which happened on February 5, 2025, started as a verbal exchange between the two men but quickly turned violent.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, Okeke, in the heat of the altercation, deliberately rammed his Lexus saloon car into William, causing severe injuries.
He said the victim was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital but later died from his injuries.
“On February 5, 2025, the Ikoyi Division in Lagos State received reports of a violent confrontation between two individuals, Okeke Johnchris and William Wisdom, aged 33, at Falomo Square, Ikoyi. Following a heated argument, Okeke allegedly rammed his Lexus saloon car into William, inflicting severe injuries.
“William was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A team of detectives visited the scene, and the deceased was taken to the IDH Morgue in Yaba for an autopsy. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations and arraignment,” Adejobi said.
He warned against violent confrontations and urged citizens to resolve disputes legally rather than resorting to violence.
Lagos Police Arrest Man with Pistol, Apprehend Traffic Robbers
In a separate incident, the Lagos police arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Wisdom Obi, during a routine patrol in Amuwo Odofin.
Obi, who was riding an unregistered motorcycle at the Abule Ado bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, was found with a concealed Brownie pistol loaded with 13 rounds of live ammunition hidden inside an MP3 radio.
“He has been taken into custody while further investigations are conducted,” Adejobi said.
Similarly, on February 7, 2025, officers from the Orile Iganmu Division arrested four suspected traffic robbers: Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyin John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon.
The suspects were caught attempting to rob passengers of a broken-down vehicle at the Ascon White Sand area.
