Man Electrocuted While Attempting to Steal PHEDC Facilities in Uyo

A man was electrocuted while allegedly attempting to vandalize facilities belonging to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) along Ring 3 in Uyo Friday night.

Eyewitnesses report that the he was found hanging upside down from a high-tension pole.

The identity of the man remains unclear, but locals refer to him as “Important,” describing him as a one-eyed individual from the Mbiabong community and a former apprentice truck driver. These claims have not been verified.

Authorities, including the police, were present at the scene to secure the body until a team from PHEDC arrived to remove it. Local residents speculate that the man’s relatives may come forward to claim the body for burial.
