The Lagos State Police Command has busted a kidnapping ring operated by Pakistani nationals.
The police rescued a 48-year-old Pakistani victim and arrested two suspects, Roman Gull and Aftab Ahmad, aged 19 and 28 respectively.
According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, the victim was lured to Lagos from Kano with a fake job offer as a chef.
The suspects booked his flight, accommodated him in a hotel, and then kidnapped him, demanding a N50 million ransom.
The police sprang into action after receiving a distress call and deployed the anticrime patrol team, which rescued the victim and apprehended the two suspects.
Five other Pakistani nationals escaped and are currently being hunted by the police.
The police recovered several items from the suspects, including their operational vehicle, a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 cash, three ATM cards, and identification documents.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers involved in the operation and assured residents and visitors of the police’s commitment to their safety and security.
This incident highlights the Lagos Police Command’s efforts to combat kidnapping and crime in the state.
The command has been proactive in neutralizing kidnapping gangs, as seen in a previous operation where nine kidnappers were arrested and two escaped with gunshot injuries.
