The Federal Government has announced plans to initiate the demolition of structures situated within the first three kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway starting on Saturday, April 27th. Mrs. Korede Keisha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, revealed this information during a news conference held on Thursday in Lagos.

Keisha specified that the structures to be demolished are those located within the designated right of way allocated for the highway project. She urged property owners who have received demolition notices and harbor concerns to visit the secretariat of the Federal Ministry of Works between Thursday, April 25th, and Friday, April 26th, to address their issues.

In her statement, Keisha emphasized the importance of raising awareness among individuals potentially affected by the project. The demolition notices have been dispatched to those within the project’s right of way. Mrs. Keisha urged all concerned parties to visit the secretariat by tomorrow, as the demolition squad is scheduled to commence action on Saturday morning, focusing on the initial three kilometers of the project.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway spans 700 kilometers and aims to connect Lagos to Cross River, passing through the coastal states of Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom before reaching Cross River. The project is projected to cost N15 trillion, with each kilometer estimated at N4 billion.
