Lagos Businessman Alleges Police Inaction After N21m Robbery Loss

Mohammed Abdullahi, a prominent real estate businessman in Lagos, has accused the Zone 2 Command and Lagos State Police Command of negligence following a robbery incident that resulted in losses amounting to N21 million at his residence in Awoyaya, Ibeju Lekki.

Abdullahi detailed the traumatic robbery in May 2024, where armed assailants stormed his home, assaulting him and his neighbour before making away with valuable possessions, including his car.

Despite providing police with crucial evidence, including video footage and leads on the suspects’ activities, Abdullahi criticised law enforcement agents for failing to take decisive action.

In his social media posts, Abdullahi pleaded for public assistance: “Please Nigerians, help me share this video. These are the guys that robbed me, and the police are not ready to do anything about my case.”

Despite initial calls to the police during the robbery, which involved multiple flats in the building, the perpetrators operated for hours without interruption, leaving Abdullahi and other victims locked inside before fleeing.

Abdullahi’s efforts to pursue justice included investing in private tracking services and paying police officers, which yielded no progress.

His frustration underscores broader concerns about police responsiveness and transparency in addressing crime in Lagos.

As the businessman continues to receive alerts related to his stolen vehicle, he remains determined to seek justice and highlight the systemic challenges faced by victims of crime in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
