Kwara NUJ poll: Ahmed visits NTA Chapel, Assures of Transparency

A Chairmanship Candidate, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, has assured members of the union of transparency if elected in the forthcoming election of the union.

Ahmed gave the assurance today at the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Ilorin Chapel of NUJ when his Campaign Council visited the station along Fate Road, Ilorin to solicit votes.

He pledged to run the State Council of NUJ with sincerity of purpose devoid of parochial interest.

The Chairmanship Candidate also assured among other things to prioritize training and retraining, welfare of members, introduction of quarterly award ceremony and resuscitation of social and recreational activities at the NUJ Press Centre.

Also Speaking, NUJ Chairman, NTA, Ilorin Chapel, Mr Abdul-waheed Bibire, promised the candidate huge votes from his chapel.

Bibire described Abdul-lateef ‘Lanre Ahmed as a sellable NUJ Chairmanship candidate with wealth of experience and prerequisite qualifications.

In his submission, Manager, News and Current Affairs, NTA, Ilorin, Mr Yemi Akintunde, charged candidate to be a good Ambassador of the Fourth Estate of the Realm and desist from actions that could dent the image of the profession.

Akintunde also implored journalists to be fearless in their reportage no matter whose ox is gored.

In his remarks, the Director General Abdul-lateef ‘Lanre Ahmed Campaign Council, Gbenga Ishola, solicited support and cooperation of NTA Chapel of NUJ towards Abdul-lateef Lanre Ahmed’s victory at the forthcoming election.

The NUJ Chairmanship Candidate, Abdul-lateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, was also received by the General Manager, NTA, Ilorin, Alhaji Waheed Popoola.
