KWARA HIJAB CRISIS: MY EXPERIENCE AT A MISSIONARY SCHOOL AS A STUDENT

I recently read the address of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of kwara state on the civil unrest in the state over the use of hijab in Christian missionary schools.

In a bid to restore peace in the “state of harmony” the governor planned to revisit it’s decision which is to permit the use of hijab in christian missionary schools across the state – a decision which did not go down well with the Christians in the state.

Mr. Governor Sir, allow me to go through memory lane with my experience as a Christian in Muslim Missionary School.

I attended and obtained my SSCE from a Muslim Missionary school where am currently previleged to be the National Vice President of the Old Students Association.

During my stay in the noble school along with other christian students and muslims we
recite the islamic prayer at the assembly
everyday, no parent of ours ever came to the
school to complain. We were okay with it. Some of us even get home sometimes and recite the prayer as song because we got used to it overtime.

If a parent is not okay
with the school system , they simply just
take their children to another school.

Like you said on your write-up posted on your Facebook handle Sir there is need to respect people’s
believe and system .

Secondly, How can someone build a mosque in a Christian missionary school . Will they allow Christians to build church in a Muslim missionary school.

I remember at a point when we wanted to start a fellowship in the school, as I was the pioneer fellowship president, we were not allowed to use any where at the school premises for the fellowship, not until a nearby church was given to us by the church pastor before we could start the fellowship. Why? It’s a Muslim missionary school, and we all accept and appreciate it that way. Now imagine if we say we want to build a church in the school premises. You will agree with me it’s a no go area.

Please Sir, let’s true justice be served on this
issue.

For God’s sake, there should be peace in the
state of harmony. And things should be done equally and rightly.

Kwara is not an Islamic State. Both religion exist in the state and there should be love and harmony between both religion.

To all kwarans and Nigerians in entirety, religion and tribe is what we met in this world, we will all leave it here. Just maintain a truthful spirit wherever you find yourself. Very important.

God bless our Governor, God bless all Kwarans, God bless Kwara, God bless Nigeria.
