Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced plans to ramp up investment in the state’s primary healthcare facilities as well as in education at the basic, secondary, and tertiary levels.
The Governor made the announcement on Saturday during his attendance at the 13th Igbomina Day celebration held in Iludun Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, the Governor emphasized the importance of continued public support for the government, particularly as it works to tackle security challenges in the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq praised the Igbomina people for their industriousness and rich tradition of self-help, which he credited for their success in education and entrepreneurship. The Igbomina, a significant ethnic group in Kwara State, are spread across both Kwara and Osun States.
“I urge you to continue the impressive legacy of self-help passed down from your ancestors,” the Governor said. “National unity is key, and we must focus less on ethnic divisions that often lead to disunity and hinder development.”
The Governor reiterated that his administration is committed to inclusivity, noting that the Igbomina people have benefited significantly from various rural and urban development projects.
He highlighted a number of key road projects in Igbomina land, including the Arandun-Esie-Oro Road, Owu Fall Road, Orisa Bridge in Oro Ago, Omu Aran Oko Road, Owode Ofaro-Alabe Road, and Ajase-Ipo Okeiya Road.
“I am truly impressed by today’s gathering and congratulate the people of Igbomina for this important occasion.”
This event highlights the power of community and collaboration, which are essential for achieving greater goals,” AbdulRazaq said.
The Governor also commended the Igbomina monarchs, particularly the Olupo of Ajase Ipo and Chairman of the Igbomina Traditional Council, Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu, for their continued support.
He expressed his condolences to the Igbomina people on the recent passing of Chief Luqman Balogun (Jagun), the leader of the hunters, praying for the repose of his soul while acknowledging his lasting legacy.
AbdulRazaq thanked the Igbomina people for their ongoing support and engagement, which he described as vital to the success of his administration. He called on all citizens, including the Igbomina, to promote peace, unity, and avoid ethnic divisions in order to advance national development.
“We must continue to embrace peace and foster national unity in the interest of progress,” he said.
