Kogi Gov Rallies Support for APC in Edo Election

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has expressed strong support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Edo State election, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Speaking at an APC youth rally in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, on Friday, Ododo emphasised that Okpebholo truly represents the aspirations of Edo State residents.

Ododo, who highlighted his personal connections and cultural ties with the people of Edo, pledged to leverage these to secure victory for Okpebholo and the APC in the September 21 governorship election.

His remarks were communicated in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser, Ismaila Isah.

During his visit, Ododo was welcomed by Phillip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State.

He assured the audience that he would mobilize support among the youth and women in Akoko-Edo for Okpebholo’s candidacy.

Ododo called on the people of Akoko-Edo to reject violence and intimidation, and to defend their votes for the APC.

“The APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will build on the exemplary leadership of the past APC administration in Edo under former Governor Adams Oshiomhole,” Ododo stated.

He stressed that the APC and its candidate are committed to fulfilling their campaign promises, focusing on the welfare of the people, similar to the approach in Kogi State under his leadership.

Ododo, who spoke in both English and Ebira, praised the peaceful conduct of the Akoko-Edo residents during the campaign and assured them that their support would be rewarded if the APC wins the election.

Following the rally, Ododo has arrived in Benin City, Edo State’s capital, in preparation for the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign rally on Saturday. He is expected to address the gathering and join other party leaders in making a final push for victory in the upcoming election.
