Kidnappers of Taraba varsity students demand N50m ransom

A ransom of N50 million is being sought by the kidnappers of the two students from Federal University Wukari in Taraba State in order to release them.

This was revealed on Sunday by the institution’s Head of Information and Protocol Unit, Mrs. Ashu Agbu.

“The abductors revealed that they came for the owner of the eatery and not his staff and will return to get him.

“They are demanding a ransom of N50 million to free the two students. Since the incident, security agencies and youths in the area have been combing the surrounding forests and bush paths to apprehend the kidnappers and will not relent until the students are rescued alive and safe,” she said.

Agbu made a suggestion that a larger conference involving representatives from the local, state, and federal governments as well as security agencies will take place on Monday, April 8, in an effort to find a long-term solution to the institution’s insecurity.

Recall that the pupils, who were housed at a business near the bustling area and who were staying off the school grounds, were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 3, at approximately ten o’clock at night.
