Kano’s Emir Palace Secured by Heavy Police Presence

Kano State Police Command operatives have taken charge of security at the main palace of the Emir of Kano, replacing the local hunters who had been guarding Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The local hunters, known as ‘Yan Tauri, were stationed at the palace last month amid rumours of a potential forceful return of the deposed 15th Emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero.

However, security agents have now assumed control of the palace’s security.

Similarly, Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero remains under protection at the Nasarawa mini palace.

Despite an eviction notice from the Kano State government following a court ruling last Thursday, traditional activities at both palaces continue without interruption.

Reacting to the development, the outgoing Commissioner of Police in Kano, AIG Usaini Gumel, confirmed the deployment of additional security personnel to the palaces of the two contending emirs.

He stated that the deployment aims to prevent security threats and maintain a peaceful atmosphere pending the outcome of the emirship tussle.

Gumel further explained that armed personnel have been deployed to handle any unforeseen circumstances in the identified areas.
