Kano Police Ban Sallah Durbar Celebrations Amid Security Concerns

By Ekpenyong Emmanuel

The Kano State Police Command has announced a ban on all Sallah Durbar celebrations across the state ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

This decision was made following credible intelligence reports indicating plans by certain groups to disrupt the festivities and create instability.

According to Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the ban is necessary to prevent potential unrest and maintain peace and public order.

The police command worked in collaboration with other security agencies to assess the rising tensions and uncertainties surrounding the Durbar activities.

To ensure a safe and secure celebration, the police have urged worshippers to conduct their Eid prayers only at designated praying grounds and adhere to security guidelines.

These guidelines include avoiding suspicious objects, refraining from horse riding, car racing, or reckless driving, and parental guidance to prevent children from engaging in disruptive activities.

The police have also advised the public to avoid actions that could lead to a breach of peace or breakdown of law and order.

CP Bakori assured residents that adequate security personnel would be deployed to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration.

In a statement, CP Bakori urged everyone to prioritize peace above all else, set aside differences, and unite as law-abiding citizens for the progress of the state and nation.

The ban on Sallah Durbar celebrations is seen as a proactive measure to prevent any potential security threats and ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Kano State.
