Kano State is poised for greatness in 2025, according to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has outlined his vision for a stronger and more prosperous state.
Speaking through his Deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, during the 2025 celebration held at the Filin Mahaha, Kofar Naisa open theatre, the governor emphasized the importance of unity and steadfastness among residents.
Governor Yusuf’s administration has already made significant strides in various sectors, including healthcare, education, road construction, and foreign scholarship initiatives.
The governor highlighted these achievements, noting that they are a testament to his commitment to improving the lives of Kano residents.
However, the governor also acknowledged the challenges facing the state, particularly with regards to the proposed tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly.
Governor Yusuf expressed strong opposition to the bills, describing them as “ill-timed, lopsided and inimical to the unity of the country.”
“We will not support any policy that negatively affects the welfare of our people,” the governor said.
“Nigerians, especially in the north, are already struggling with hyperinflation and unprecedented insecurity. The presidency should focus on tackling extreme poverty and hunger, rather than imposing additional taxes on our people,”he added.
Despite these challenges, Governor Yusuf remains optimistic about the future of Kano State. He urged residents to remain united and steadfast, working together to build a stronger and more prosperous state.
“Let 2025 be a year of shared prosperity and progress,” the governor said. “Together, we will overcome our challenges and achieve greatness. We will continue to prioritize the welfare of our people, and we will not be deterred by obstacles or setbacks.”
The governor’s vision for a stronger Kano is shared by his deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who celebrated the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II in 2024 as a victory for the people’s will. Gwarzo also reminded residents that the authority to appoint an Emir lies solely with the Governor of Kano State, and urged those meddling in Kano Emirate affairs to respect the law and uphold peace.
As Kano State looks to the future, Governor Yusuf’s administration is committed to delivering on its promises and building a brighter future for all residents. With unity, steadfastness, and a commitment to the welfare of its people, Kano State is poised to achieve greatness in 2025 and beyond.
