The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its non-participation in the local government council elections held in Kano state, asserting that no valid election took place.
Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, a prominent APC member and former Secretary to the State Government, stated that the party does not recognize the election results, citing a Federal High Court ruling by Justice Simon Amobede that deemed the elections null and void.
Bichi emphasized that the APC’s decision was influenced by the court’s judgment, which criticized the leadership of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSAIEC) for being biased in favor of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
He stressed that, since the ruling remains unappealed, the party considers any results from the elections illegal.
He outlined three key points supporting the APC’s position: the Federal High Court judgment, the perceived partisanship of KANSAIEC, and the invalidity of any outcomes from the election.
He also referenced a recent court ruling that annulled all NNPP chairmanship candidates, further undermining the elections’ legitimacy.
Bichi urged APC members to remain calm and patient as they pursue legal remedies regarding the situation.
