JUST In: SSANU, NASU declare seven-day strike over withheld salaries

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union, have declared a seven-day warning strike.

The unions stated on Monday that the decision was part of the resolution after a meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday and Sunday.

According to them, the strike was to demand the payment of four months withheld salaries of their members by the Federal Government after the 2022 nationwide strike.

This is coming a few weeks after the Nigeria Labour Congress called off its nationwide protest over their demand for an increase in workers’ minimum wage given current economic realities.

The Federal Government Committee to engage labour unions on the minimum wage at various regions across the country has also met on the matter while decisions are yet to be reached on the amount of the minimum wage.
