JUST IN: Kwara Gov. mourns as ex-senator Rafiu Ibrahim dies

Former Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who served as the voice of the Kwara South senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate, has sadly passed away at the age of 57 following a short battle with illness.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the family to reporters on Wednesday.

The statement read, “We kindly request your prayers and support during this difficult time. His burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

“We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen.”

The governor of the state, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, extends his sympathies to the families of the dead and the opposition party (PDP) in a statement made public by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

“I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party on this sad development.

“This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone, according to the governor.”

Born on December 12, 1966, Ibrahim served as a senator under Senator Bukola Saraki, representing Kwara South Senatorial District in the ninth National Assembly from 2015 to 2019.
