EFCC has arrested former Governor Willie Obiano hours after leaving office as the Governor of Abia State.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arrested former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.
Obiano had on Wednesday evening, formally handed over official documents to the newly elected Governor, Charles Soludo, and conducted him round offices in the government house.
Soludo was sworn in today, Thursday, March 17, 2021.
However, Obiano, who has been on the EFCC watchlist, was arrested at about 8.30 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Although the details were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, NATIONAL TELESCOPE gathered that the immediate past Governor was on his way out of the country to Houston, Texas in the United States.
