Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has recused himself from the case filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others.
The suit seeks to stop the Senate from investigating her over alleged misconduct.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, Justice Egwuatu announced his decision to withdraw from the case, citing allegations of bias raised against his court by Akpabio, who is the third defendant in the matter.
After listening to the parties involved, the judge stated that he would no longer preside over the case due to the accusation. He further directed that the case file be sent to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, for reassignment to another judge.
