Former Lagos governorship candidate and Lagos4Lagos Movement leader, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR), has commended Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Jimi Benson, and Hon. Enitan Badru for sponsoring a crucial constitutional amendment bill aimed at upgrading Lagos’ 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to full-fledged Local Government Areas (LGAs).

In a statement by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye JANDOR described the move as a bold and progressive step that will enhance grassroots governance, improve service delivery, and bring Lagosians closer to the full benefits of decentralization.

He emphasised that the people of Lagos have long awaited federal recognition of their LCDAs, making this legislative effort both timely and necessary.

The bill, co-sponsored by Faleke (Ikeja Federal Constituency), Benson (Ikorodu Federal Constituency), Badru (Lagos Island I Federal Constituency), and 19 other lawmakers, recently passed its second reading in the House of Representatives.

“This legislative push marks a major milestone in our collective pursuit of a more functional and efficient local government system. Hon. Faleke, Hon. Benson, and Hon. Badru have shown true representation by prioritizing the interests of Lagosians,” JANDOR stated.

He called on lawmakers, political leaders, and Lagos residents to support the bill, stressing that upgrading the LCDAs will drive equitable development, boost infrastructure, and strengthen governance at the grassroots level.
