IPOB’s Sit-at-Home Order Overshadows Soludo’s Directive in Anambra

Despite Governor Charles Soludo’s directive for businesses in Anambra State to remain open, residents overwhelmingly complied with the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) Monday sit-at-home order.

Economic activities came to a standstill in the state capital, Awka, as schools were forced to send children back home. Our reporter observed that nearly all businesses, shops, and offices were shut down, with banks and private establishments locking their doors due to fears of potential attacks.

A cyber café operator, Mrs. Uchenna Michael, explained why she chose not to open her business. “The fear of being attacked is real. The government hasn’t provided enough security to make us feel safe to operate,” she told Daily Trust.

Tricycle driver Mr. Chuks Madu echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Only a madman would venture onto the roads when there’s no adequate security on days like this.”

The streets were largely deserted, with very few vehicles in operation, leaving residents to walk or abandon their plans for the day.
