The Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is set to deliver the Maiden Distinguished Alumni Lecture of the Centre for Peace and Security Studies (CPSS) at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
The lecture, themed “Effective Policing of the Nigerian Nation for Enduring Peace and Security: The Role of Stakeholders,” is scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Faculty of Law Moot Court, Atere Campus, Ilorin, starting at 10:00 am.
Ahead of the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Noah Yusuf, has inaugurated a nine-member planning committee to oversee preparations. The committee is chaired by Dr. Abdulazeez Adekola, the Acting Director of CPSS, with members drawn from various departments, including Security Studies, Mass Communication, and Sociology.
During the inauguration, Prof. Yusuf urged the committee members to be committed and proactive in organizing a successful lecture. He emphasized the importance of extending invitations to all security agencies across Nigeria.
Similarly, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sikiru Lanre Nurudeen, encouraged the committee to fulfill its mandate effectively.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Dr. Adekola assured that they would “hit the ground running” to ensure a seamless event.
The committee is expected to submit weekly progress reports to the university management as preparations intensify for the landmark lecture.
