Ibadan Poly mgt lauds Oyo Gov as construction of office complex begins

The Management, Polytechnic, Ibadan has applauded the Executive Governor
of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for approving the construction of a 72- room office complex for the institution.

The Chairman of the polytechnic’s Governing Council, Prof. Kunle Adeyemi who applauded Engr. Seyi Makinde during the Turning of Sod of the Complex held at the site on Monday, November 8, 2021, stressed that staff welfare is paramount to delivering quality education.

“This is one of the remarkable achievements. Taking care of staff and their office accommodation is very important. Staff cannot be managing and squatting with one another.

“But with the construction of this complex, staff will be focused on their tasks in their offices,” he added.

Earlier, the Rector of the institution, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi, while delivering his welcome address, described the project as a land mark achievement in the history of the institution.

He said, “it gladens my heart to welcome us to this remarkable day today. And it is remarkable in the sense that, this is the first time to my knowledge in the history of this polytechnic whereby the government will do something like this. The first time that we will be having a whole building comprising 72 offices being built for the institution by the state government.

“I think this government deserves a round of applause.”

While speaking with Journalists in an interview, Prof. Adebiyi, disclosed that the project which was conceived to solve the problem of inadequate offices for members of staff will be completed in nine months.

According to him, “the accreditation status of the institution also depends on adequacy of offices for members of staff and this project will solve a lot for us. Now we are having 72 standard offices as required by NBTE.”

In his remarks, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barr Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem who was represented by Mrs. Ademuyiwa Adeola congratulated the Institution.

Highlights of the event included; turning of Sod and performances by the institution’s Music Department.

Other dignitaries present at the event includes, the wife of the Alafin of Oyo Ayaba (Barrister)Moji Adeyemi, the Head of Platinum Consultants, Hon Paul Addins, Ibadan Polytechnic Deans of Faculty, Heads of Department as well as some Staffs and Students of the Institution.
