How we paid $6.2m to foreign election observers with Buhari, Emefiele’s ‘approval’ – CBN director

Deputy director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Michael Onyeka Ogbu, has a rationale behind the release of $6,230,000 as payment to some international election observers before last year’s general election.

He stated that the sum was released because there was evidence that the then President, Muhammadu Buhari and ex-CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele approved it.

Ogbu, a current Deputy Director and Head of the Service Delivery Division at the Apex Bank stated this while being led in evidence by Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN).

He disclosed that he served as the Branch Controller at that time until he was redeployed last September.
