United States Vice President Kamala Harris has officially declared her candidacy for the presidency, following an endorsement from President Joe Biden.

This announcement comes after Biden, citing age and health concerns, decided to withdraw from the race.

In her statement, Harris expressed deep honour at receiving Biden’s endorsement and emphasised her commitment to securing the Democratic nomination.

“Over the past year, I have travelled across the country, engaging with Americans about the crucial choices in this pivotal election. I will continue to do so in the coming days and weeks,” Harris stated.

Harris underscored her dedication to uniting the Democratic Party and the nation, aiming to defeat former President Donald Trump and his “extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

She declared, “We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight, and together, we will win.”

She has pledged to build on the accomplishments of the Biden administration while addressing the challenges that lie ahead.
