The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has distributed food items and household appliances worth over N150 million to residents of Delta State.
The distribution, which took place at his country home in Onicha-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area saw supporters and residents from the four local governments in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency receiving various items.
Beneficiaries were provided with essentials such as 50kg bags of rice, 100kg bags of beans, deep freezers, fridges, and electricity generators.
Among the recipients were members of the Door-to-Door WhatsApp Closed Group, a forum of PDP supporters across the constituency, led by Hon. Elumelu.
Speaking at the event, Elumelu said that the distribution was a gesture of gratitude to those who supported him and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 general elections.
He noted, “There is the need to reassure people that if they are in a particular place, they can be motivated to belong to that place. This is what informed why we are doing this today.”He added,
“This is symbolic, a token to appreciate you for your support; to say thank you for your time and thank you for your interest in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. Thank you also for supporting our Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, because you all worked for him and our Party, PDP.”
Elumelu lauded Governor Oborevwori for his inclusive governance and effective leadership, describing his administration as one that is moving Delta State forward in all sectors.
“His Excellency has demonstrated true leadership, and I urge all elected officials to follow his example and always extend their hands of support to those less privileged,” he said.
In a chat with journalists after the event, Elumelu reiterated the importance of showing gratitude to supporters.
He said, “It is essential to appreciate those who work hard for the party. When people are acknowledged, they are motivated to do more.”
The Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, who is also a member of the WhatsApp group, commended Elumelu for his generosity.
He said, “Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu has continued to touch lives despite not currently serving in the House of Representatives. His large heart and compassion for the people are evident, especially in these trying times,” Chinye said.
The event was graced by key figures from Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, including Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Hon. Austin Chikaezie, and Dr. Odinigwe Odigie, among others.
Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Elumelu, describing him as a “beacon of hope” during these challenging economic times.
