Gunmen Kill Policeman, Vigilante in Sokoto

Gunmen have reportedly killed a policeman and a vigilante during a patrol in Sokoto State. The tragic incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on Monday at Kwanan Milgoma, along the Sokoto-Bodinga road.

A senior police officer, who requested anonymity, confirmed the attack, explaining that the assailants arrived unexpectedly in a white Hilux vehicle.

“The gunmen ambushed the operatives at a checkpoint along the Sokoto-Bodinga road and immediately opened fire,” the officer revealed. “Sadly, one policeman and a vigilante lost their lives in the attack. The attackers also made away with two AK-47 rifles.”

The bodies of the fallen officers have been taken to the mortuary at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command for further comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
