Gunmen butchers village Head, council chairman, ors in Akwa Ibom

An unknown gunman has butchered the village Head of Ikot Ndibio in Essene group of villages, Ikot Abasi local government area of Akwa Ibom state, Obong Kokoete Udia, his village council chairman, Mr. Imo Donald Atat and an indigene, Ediomo Inyang in the early hours of Thursday, 9th May, 2024.

The boy, named Ubon is said to be living in a forest along Uyo-Port Harcourt road, and only comes out to devour his preys at will.

Eye witnesses say he hangs a giant axe behind, a matchet in hand and a sophisticated gun on his neck.

Residents said he emerged from the forest late last year and chased away the congregation of The Living Body Of Christ Church, Ikot Ndibio, emptied the tithe box and vandalized the residence of an octogenarian General overseer, Apostle Anthony Essien.

As if that was not enough, he set a Mercedes Benz car belonging to one Pastor Akwaowo ablaze and returned to the forest.

According to indigenes, he does not rob, but seizes goats, yam and other food items from his victims openly.
They said he use the food items to feed the boys from the same village.

Residents who spoke in whisper to our reporter said the boy has overpowered the village and entire community. They said Ikot Ndibio youths have all taken to their heels.

According to residents, who spoke from hideouts, he paid an angry visit to his village Head, Chief Kokoete Udia, his town council chairman, Mr. Imo Donald Atat and one Ediomo and butchered them beyond recognition on Thursday, 9th May.

Sources from Ikot Ndibio said nurses at the Ikot Abasi general hospital, screamed at the gory sight and rejected them , but an undisclosed private hospital offered an attempt to return them to consciousness.

The Clanhead of Ikpa Nnung Assang , Etebom Celestine Udia could not be reached as at the time of filing this report, but the Chairman, Essene Town Council, Chief Emmanuel Inyang Otu confirmed the report.

He said the boy has maimed over six, but Essene Town Council cannot take action because the immidiate village has not reported any of the massacre, not even the current one to the Essene Town Council”.
