Governor Ododo Salutes Journalists, Pledges Support for Press Freedom at NUJ’s 70th Anniversary

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on its 70th anniversary, commending the union’s contributions to democracy, good governance, and national development.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor praised the NUJ for its dedication to responsible journalism and press freedom over the past seven decades.

“For seventy years, the NUJ has been a pillar of responsible journalism, safeguarding press freedom and shaping public discourse,” Ododo stated.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a free and independent press, stressing that journalists must be able to operate without fear or intimidation.

Governor Ododo also recognized the resilience of media professionals in delivering credible information despite challenges.

He urged journalists to uphold ethical standards, counter misinformation, and embrace innovation in an evolving media landscape.

“As we mark this milestone, I commend the leadership and members of the NUJ for their unwavering commitment to truth and accountability. I am confident that the union will continue to uphold high standards in journalism, driving national progress,” he added.
