Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has lauded the state’s steady economic progress and its emergence as a significant force within Nigeria.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service marking Delta State’s 33rd anniversary, held at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori reflected on the state’s journey, noting it has been filled with both challenges and successes.

In his remarks, Oborevwori stated, “In 33 years, Delta State has evolved into a robust and strategic part of the Nigerian federation. Our people, both locally and internationally, are celebrated for their entrepreneurial spirit, passion, and ingenuity.”

He emphasised the need for continuous unity and prayer, affirming that “Only God can protect, guide, and lead us to succeed as a state.”

Governor Oborevwori expressed his gratitude to Deltans for their peaceful conduct during the recent #endbadgovernance protests and called for continued support and solidarity. He reassured residents that the future holds greater promise, with his administration committed to fulfilling the MORE Agenda.

On the issue of security, the Governor pledged ongoing efforts to maintain peace, stating, “Sustainable peace is essential for enduring development.”

He highlighted the state’s significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare over the past 15 months, all aimed at keeping Delta State ahead in social and economic development.

He also noted the state’s collaboration with security agencies to address kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes to ensure safety for all residents.

Oborevwori paid tribute to past governors, political leaders, civil servants, royal fathers, and community leaders for their contributions to the state’s progress.

Earlier in the service, Pastor Shiyanbade Adekunle, State Mission Overseer of Living Faith Church, delivered a sermon titled “The Power of Collective Thanksgiving,” urging Deltans to express gratitude for the state’s achievements and continue to rely on God.

The Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, read a passage from Psalm 136 during the service, which also included prayers for the state’s continued peace and prosperity.
